Why do my gums bleed when I brush and/or floss?
Bleeding gums often indicate the presence of gum disease, also known as periodontal disease. The initial stage, gingivitis, is reversible and characterized by inflamed gum tissues due to an excess of harmful bacteria beneath the gums. If left untreated, this bacteria can accumulate and harden into calculus, a tartar-like substance. When bacterial colonies in calculus cause jaw bone loss, it progresses to irreversible periodontal disease. Why does my tooth hurt to the cold?
Cold sensitivity is a common dental issue that can often be addressed with sensitive toothpaste. However, if you experience pain in a specific tooth or area when exposed to cold, it may indicate a significant cavity that has reached the tooth's nerve. What kind of insurance do you take?

Preventing gum disease requires a combination of good home care and professional dental cleanings. Regular brushing and flossing are essential, as is visiting your hygienist for cleanings. Hygienists specialize in cleaning areas that are difficult to reach at home, particularly beneath the gum line where bacteria accumulate. The frequency and type of cleaning may vary depending on your gum health. What is the first step to start dental work?
We offer two types of initial examinations. For specific concerns or pain in a particular tooth or area, we schedule a limited exam with the doctor, which includes an x-ray of the affected area. For a comprehensive evaluation, we conduct a full mouth x-ray and examine all your teeth. During this exam, the dentist will assess your gum health and address any dental concerns you may have. How do I schedule a cleaning?
To schedule a cleaning, simply call our office. Your first visit will include a comprehensive exam and x-rays to determine the appropriate type of cleaning for your needs. The specific treatment plan will be tailored based on the health of your gums.
